back to chi-town

Time flies when you’re having fun might be a true understatement for the last 10 days of my life.

I’ve been home in my old stomping grounds doing all kinds of things, which I will attempt to summarize in the remainder of this post.

It’s been so nice being home.  I was walking my dog Ellie one beautiful, warm morning in Spring City, and I had a true feeling of de ja vu.  I felt like it was the summer after high school graduation, when I had no job and no responsibilities besides getting ready for college field hockey preseason.

Currently not all that much has changed.  I have no job, few responsibilities (except school and finding a job), and I’m no longer preparing for a week of torture (preseason), but just hoping to fit into my wedding dress.  Oh, and I live in the Midwest.  Details.  I am truly trying to enjoy every moment of this relaxing time however, as I know it will be coming to an end shortly.

Now that I live in Chicago, it makes the planning wedding events and appointments a bit more difficult.  We try and plan trips home so they knock several things off the list at once.  This week was extremely productive.  Along with the productivity, we were able to include some key life events in the mix as well.  Let me start at the beginning.

I flew home last Thursday, April 8th.  My parents picked me up from the airport and we made a pit stop to pick up the bridesmaids dresses.  check!

From there it was a whirlwind of activities.  That weekend included my bridal shower, my bachelorette party, and two birthday parties.  Exhausted is quite the understatement.  My bridal party, family, and friends did such an amazing job with the shower and bachelorette party that they deserve a separate post, which I promise will come sooner than 10 days from now.

Right now I am sitting on the couch trying to get myself motivated to go to the gym.    I feel kind of like that guy, which is weird.

I have 32 days until the wedding, with no visitors and only one weekend trip home, so it’s time to get serious in the final stretch.  I walked for two hours all over Chicago today trying to find free weights, which I eventually found in the Sports Authority.  It was quite the awkward walk home, but I wouldn’t expect any less.

Definitely not cool enough for a fanny pack though.

Coming soon to a non-existent in the last 10 days blog near you: wedding extravaganza updates, Phillies, and my first race.
